Another new beginning

Hey folks,

So after a pretty solid month of touring and playing some amazing gigs, we're now settled back in Brighton and up to the point of writing this, have also been enjoying the sunshine...but now it's raining, damn!

The last few days have been exciting for us as we've started work on our new album which we're set to record in California this summer at a very special location (more to come on that).

It's been great getting back into the swing of writing songs and we're super excited about some of them. Infact, instead of writing about them, next blog perhaps we'll give you a sneak preview of some of the ones we've been rehearsing fresh from the source.

Over the last few months we've been writing as much as possible in the small gaps of time we had, so now it's a matter of taking the millions of different ideas, sifting through them, using the best bits and laughing at the worst bits. Kind of like taking loads of photos of places you've been and storing them away until there comes a day when you have time to put them in order, pick the best ones and show people a journey you've made.

To do this it's essential that there is lots of pizza and now our new drink of choice Gin and Tonic. Stay tuned....

Gobi Infant Squad vol 4

Bonjour! Bom Dia! Hola! Hallo! Wassup!

How’s everybody keeping? Happy Easter! Hope everyone is enjoying Easter Sunday and is eating plenty of the choccywoccy good stuff…

Half way through our spring tour now and the momentum keeps on flowing. After leaving Jason and his crew last Tuesday we are so pleased that our own headline shows have been selling-out and that we have been joined every night by wicked crowds and happy faces.

Last night in Plymouth was awesome at the Barbican Theatre and we are going to be showing you guys footage and live clips from the intimate show that we did there last night very soon…

For anyone living in the South West – we will be doing a last minute surprise show at the Ride CafĂ© near ....Plymouth.. ..University.... tonight. We got asked last minute to fill in for another band and were happy to oblige even though it was our day off ;)

Head on down for free barbecue and awesome music…

Here are some pics that my ma dug out of me when I was just a wee nipper… Why is it that so many babies are blonde but then end up having different hair colours later on in life? Puzzling!?

Oh dear!

Big wassup to all our new friends, hope everyone is chilling and is taking it easy fo’sheasy on this holiday weekend

Take Care and we’ll see you soon

Easter love from up above

Headline Gobi

Hey folks,
Just a quick one to say how nice it was meeting so many of you great people at the Mraz shows, we all had a wicked time.

We now leave Jason for a bit head down the motorway to Brighton to start our own headline tour. We hope you'll come and join us for one of the shows and follow our progress.

Best wishes
Rob

Manchester, Sunshiiiiiiiiiiiiiine, Cargo and Gobi infant squad volume III…

Y’all!!

What’s happening friends old and new?

I hope this blog post finds you all well and if you are in the UK as we are currently, I trust that you are getting plenty of vitamin D and are soaking up the solar goodness that has come to please us over the last couple of days…

As you’ll soon be able to see from our visual installments, Two Spot Gobi are officially on the road! With our new tour bus and our new gobi crewsters: Adam (Tour manager) and John (engineer) we headed up to Manchester on Friday night with Jason Mraz, Marit Larsen and co for the first show of our UK tour…

We were told Manchester is a party town… We can now confirm that this is definitely the case. The show was amazing and we would like to say a big ‘wassup!’ to all the people that we met at the Academy that night. Thanks to everyone in the crowd for being awesome and we will be back in Manchester on our next tour without doubt…

As for news – we are super excited to announce that STRONGBACK (formerly Palladium check them out: http://www.myspace.com/palladiumofficial) will be supporting us at our official London album launch on THURSDAY 16th APRIL… This show is going to be very special indeed so grab a ticket as soon as you can – they are flying out! click here to buy your ticket

Today we are getting prepared for our biggest London show to date at the Hammersmith Apollo. Can’t wait to see some of you ladies and gents later…

And now for what you’ve all been waiting for… After digging around the Lewis family photo archives we stumbled upon these little gems.

Who would have thought that this little scamp would turn out to be such a fine young cellist…

HA HA!
Like butter wouldn’t melt. We know better.

Anyways – off to soundcheck now… Check out the new video of the week from PORTO on our profile and we will be uploading more tour videos and blogs over the next few days. So don’t touch that dial ;)

Lots of love from us to you – from me and all the Two Spot crew

Peace

New year....

YO!

First things first. Happy New Year to one and all. We hope you return from the festive season having been suitably re-freshed/ re-charged/ re-ignited and that the days to come are full of the things that put a smile on your face. Here's to 2009.

And now, down to Business...

Goodbye. As some may know just before Christmas our dear bass player Ben Rosairo flew to pastures new. He has left the bass guitar behind to pursue his various dreams and who knows where you will see him next. Whether it be cycling towards the Pyrenees, travelling across the USA in a burnt out cadillac or hurtling along the sea front on his skateboard we know he will be living life to the full and we wish him well. He was a friend, comrade and one of the founding members of Two Spot Gobi and we are saddened by his leaving.

However...

With every turning page there comes a new chapter and with every open door there are new possibilities. Today we welcome a new face to team Gobi and we are fully stoked to have Matt Harris as a new fully fledged member of the band. He joins us after having been part of the Stiff Dylans www.myspace.com/stiffdylansmusic

After receiving his name badge and matching hat and performing the initiation ceremony Matt has settled in well and we now are looking ahead to 2009 confident that it is sure to be our most exciting and successful year so far.

Check Matt's page out here: www.myspace.com/mattthebass

To the future and beyond...

Take care wherever you may be and we will be in touch in the very near future with more news about the album, our UK tour and our second US tour and more videos and podcast etc. In the meantime check out the latest Gobi podcast (follow link on our profile)performed by Rob and I...

Much love as always from me and the gobis

James
